First thing you probably want to do is get settled in to your accommodations before heading out to explore. You will find a large selection of Hotels, Motels, Private Rentals including Homes and Condos as well as the prized Bed & Breakfast. Winter Park vacation rentals are a very popular option for those staying a week or more.

Winterpark Ski Resort is one of Colorado's best ski resorts for luxury and affordability combined in one. The resort is more than just a ski destination. They offer close proximity to year round activities and events including Bike and Snow Races, Jazz and Blues Festivals, Live Shows, Rodeos and Family Nights to name a few.

Winter Park Colorado may be small in population but the family friendly activities here are larger than life.



Ever been Dog Sledding or ridden on a Snowcat? When was the last time you went Ice Skating or Snowmobiling? Are you a hard core skier or just learning?

Plan your Colorado family vacation now as there are so many winter time activities to choose from. You may find it hard to fit them all in during your stay. Here's a brief look at the many options

  • Ice Skating - Choose from 5 hour daytime or 6 hour evening ice skating at Winterpark Ski Resort. Family passes for as little as $18. Ice skating is also available at Cooper Creek Square. This option requires renting skates from a rental shop at Cooper Creek.


  • Sleigh, Wagon, Carriage and Horseback Rides - Explore thousands of acres of the Rocky Mountain Countryside with a trail ride offered by several local guest ranches and outfitters. Rides start at $25 per person


  • Dog Sledding - Take a 45 minute sled ride through private property forest. The ride offers grand views of the Rocky Mountains and Continental Divide. Sled tour prices start at $125 per sled.


  • Tubing and Snowshoeing - choose from guided and self guided snowshoeing. Guided hikes start at $39 per person. Visit the largest tubing hill in the area at the Colorado Adventure Center or your can tube at Fraser Tubing Hill for $17 hour.


  • Downhill and Cross-Country Skiing - Downhill skiing is offered at Winter Park resort while Cross Country skiing is available as several area Guest Ranches.


  • Hot Air Balloon Rides - Start the day off right by flying high above the Rockies. Balloon rides available year round and cost about $225 per person.


  • Whitewater Rafting/Kayaking - If you enjoy the thrill of whitewater rapids then head out for an excursion on the Upper Colorado River. There are a couple of local outfitters that offer half day and full day excursions. Prices are very reasonable running in the range of $45-$70 per person.


  • ATV's and Snowmobile's - Choose guided or unguided ATV and Snowmobile rides. This is a great way to see astounding views of the Fraser Valley and Continental Divide.


  • Mountain Biking - Mountain Biking is by far a Colorado favorite activity. Winter Park offers Trestle Bike Park where you can rent equipment and ride the trails for a half day or full day.

  • High Country Stampede Rodeo held July Through September - Adult Tickets $10


  • Crankworx Colorado Mountain Bike Festival - last weekend in July


  • Famous Flamethrowers High Altitude Chili Cookoff - August 22nd and 23rd


  • High Altitude Battle of the Bands and Skateboard Competition - Saturday September 5th.



Need a Way to Get Around?

Depending on where you stay and what your vacation plans are, you could easily get away with not having to have your own transportation. Most accommodations offer local shuttle services.



Should you want or need your own vehicle there are a couple of car rental agencies that offer pickup and delivery services to the Winter Park Colorado area. Car rentals go fast so be sure to book early.



Shuttle and Private Charter Services are also available but can be costly if plan to do alot of traveling around town.
