Snowmobile Tour Travel JournalDecember 29, 2008This was our first time out on a snowmobile tour and it would turn out to be one of our favorite family adventures. The excursion into the San Juan Mountains was lead by one of Durango's outdoor outfitters. The outfitter picked us up at Rockwood Station where we were dropped off by the Durango Silverton Railroad.
We climbed the mountainside along paths that were sheer drop-offs. The views of the nearby mountaintops were amazing. 
The tour lasted about 2 hours and ended up with us riding around on a frozen lake. The lake offered a little free time to scale several elevated hills and wide open space.
