Pikes Peak Mountain

Pikes Peak Mountain is a must do for any family. This is truly on of my favorite Colorado Springs activities and one attraction every family in the world would enjoy. Although Pikes Peak Highway Tollroad entrance is actually located in Cascade it's considered a part/suburb of Colorado Springs.

Time to Allot: All Day

Pikes Peak Toll Road Fees: $10 per Adult / $5 per Child

Hours of Operation: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (hours vary seasonally)

Activities: Scenic Drive, Hiking, Sightseeing, Fishing, Gold Panning, Eating Donuts and Shopping at the Summit, Souvenir Shopping at the 2 other Gift Shops along the Pikes Peak Highway and Superb Scenic Photos.

Pet Friendly: Yes

You'll find the day passes rather quickly when exploring Pikes Peak. We could have easily returned for another day of on mountain playing at these reservoirs and area trails.

• Elk Park Trail
• Crystal Reservoir
• South Catamount Reservoir
• North Catamount Reservoir

• Crystal Reservoir - I like this gift shop as it sits right on the reservoir. If you walk behind the gift shop there are trails that lead you down to the waters edge. Great fun for kids.


• Glen Cove - located about 1/2 way to the summit, this is a great opportunity to get out and explore.


• Summit House - This is probably the favorite gift shop among many. Just the idea that you made it to "Pikes Peak Summit" makes it worth a little shopping. Considerably more crowded than Glen Cove and Crystal Reservoir, you'll find yourself easily brushing elbows with other travelers. Don't forget your "World Famous Donut".
