Pikes Peak Colorado

Colorado Springs

Base Elevation 6300'
Summit Elevation 14,100'

The summit of Pikes Peak Colorado, also known as "America's Favorite Mountain", sits at 14,110ft. Pikes Peak is the 31st highest mountain and the most widely known of the fifty-four Colorado 14ers. The Peak is host to a half million visitors every year.

This is one of those must do in your lifetime Colorado tourist attractions. There is nothing more exhilarating and beautiful than reaching the summit. Words can never describe the scenery from atop this famous mountain.

Taking a family trip to Pikes Peak Colorado is one you will never forget. It's cheap family fun at one of Colorado's favorite family attractions. Danielle's first trip to Pikes Peak was 2009 and will truly be one of her most memorable.

We highly suggest that you bring plenty of film, camcorder or some way of recording this Colorado trip. We took tons of pictures the day we went to the summit and left with more than 500 photos.

We have included a few of those pictures here, we hope you enjoy.

Feel free to Share your own Colorado photos and stories from your trip to Pikes Peak.

We lucked out on this trip to Pikes Peak. There weren't many clouds below the summit so we were able to catch some great views.

It's extremely windy and colder but it's amazingly beautiful looking down.

pikes peak colorado, colorado fishing, colorado tourist attractions, crystal reservoir
Crystal Reservoir was definitely our favorite stop along the way. We spent about 2 hours walking around, letting the dogs play (by the way dogs are not allowed to swim in the reservoirs) and stopping by the gift shop.

Colorado Fishing is available from May until September at the Reservoir. Don't forget to grab a fishing license for anyone in the family over 15.

The Crystal Reservoir Gift Shop is the first of 3 along the Pikes Peak Highway.

The family attraction known as "Crystal Reservoir" offers a smaller gift/souvenir shop, but it's the biggest on activities offered.

Hiking and Biking trails are abundant, the kids can pan for gold just outside the gift shop. If you love to fish and have a fishing pole, finding a place to put in is a snap.
