The Durango Silverton Railroad is one of our families favorite Colorado Attractions in Southwest Colorado. The Durango Colorado train ride offers the most picturesque mountain scenery of the San Juan National Forest available.

Durango Train to Silverton
The train runs into Silverton from the beginning of May to the end of October. Riding the train round trip offers a full day of sightseeing. The ride is about 3 1/2 hours each way and allows you a 2 hour layover in Silverton.
The small Victorian town of Silverton offers many restaurants and opportunities for shopping. The entire town is registered as a National Historic Landmark.
Durango Railroad Summer Excursions
Durango Railroad offers summer excursions/packages that you can purchase in conjunction with a one way trip to Silverton. The offerings include:
Jeep Tour - Tour the San Juan Mountain Trails of Silverton Colorado and still have time for lunch and shopping in town. Ride the train back to Durango.
Rafting - Ride the train into Silverton and raft the afternoon away on the Animas River or Raft then ride the train back to Durango that afternoon.
Soaring Treetops - soar at heights of 1400ft on this all day adventure on a remote property accessible only by train. Excursion includes lunch amidst the treetops. This excursion does not include a layover in Silverton
ATV Rides - Ride the train into Silverton and spend a couple of hours riding the trail heads.
Durango Train to Cascade
The Durango Silverton Railroad runs into Cascade Canyon from the beginning of November to the end of April. The train ride to is approximately 2 hours each way and offers an opportunity to play in the snow in Cascade for about 45 minutes.
Durango Railroad Winter Excursion
Durango Railroad offers a winter excursion/package that you can purchase in conjunction with a one way trip to Cascade. Take the Train to Cascade and get dropped off at Rockwood Station for a 2 hour snowmobile ride along the mountainside.
We had so much fun on this excursion it was well worth the extra $99.00 per person.
